I am a slack mofo, as I've quit training. I ran 10 miles Sunday morning and haven't strapped on the running shoes since. I'd like to say that I'm simply giving my body a rest...but that would be a lie. I'm pretty much just lazy. Will I run today? I say I will but it would be a safe bet that I won't.

My legs are dead and I have fast fallen into third place. My shins are dammned killing me. I have a run tomorrow with an attractive girl from work, and I do believe my legs will break in half. More on this after the run.

The bar has officially been raised. After a dreadful exhibition Saturday involving extreme heat and some throbbing shin splints, I churned out the longest run in Ricky Smith history. 8.25 miles to be exact. It was by no means a blazing 8.25 miles as it was at almost an exact 11 minute mile pace, but it was a constant non-stop run for 1 hour and 31 minutes covering some serious distance for me. The upside, this puts me back in the fight with Derek who I was beginning to think might just leave me in the dust. The downside, I'm not even 1/3 of the way there. The scary thing of it is, I firmly believe I could have run an additional mile without much problem had I not been getting nauseated from dehydration. Of course, I could have run an extra 10 miles if it weren't for my weak legs, pathetic lungs, dehydration, and overweight body...so maybe my argument doesn't hold much water. As a side note, I was quite inspired by my quivering hands as I tried to eat my after run waffles...I think thats a sign of a really good runner.
